Let's talk...

What To Expect

Reaching out takes courage, and we want to make your experience with us as comfortable as possible. From the moment you connect with Talk It Over Derby, we’re here to listen, support, and guide you at your own pace.

Before Your Appointment

Getting in Touch

When you first reach out, we’ll respond as soon as possible to understand your situation and determine if an appointment is the right next step. If it is:

  • We’ll offer you the next available appointment.
  • We’ll ask if you have any disabilities or additional needs so we can accommodate you.
  • We’ll take your phone number in case of last-minute changes.
  • If you have any questions, feel free to ask—we’re happy to help!

Appointment Reminders

We’ll send you a text reminder a couple of days before your appointment.
Getting Here
  • Our postcode is DE1 1LL.
  • The nearest car park is on Abbey Street, just a 3-minute walk away.
  • Please note: We are unable to offer parking at the building.
When You Arrive
  • Please arrive on time, as we don’t have a waiting area.
  • Ring the bell to the left of the door, and we’ll answer via intercom. A Support Worker will come down to meet you.
  • Please note that the building is used for a number of purposes and can be busy at times. But don’t worry, the Support Worker will take you straight to our quiet meeting room.

Your First Visit

Walking through a new door can feel daunting, but we’ve made the process as simple and welcoming as possible.

  • When you arrive, you’ll be greeted warmly and taken to our private meeting room.
  • We’ll offer you a hot drink to help you settle in.
  • Unlike traditional therapy services, there’s minimal paperwork — just a simple privacy agreement and registration form to complete.
  • Your first session will last around an hour.
  • Your Support Worker will gently guide the session, encouraging you to share your story in your own way, at your own pace.
  • At the end, they’ll discuss next steps with you and arrange any follow-up appointments if needed.

Our Approach to Support

We believe in creating a space where you can feel truly heard and understood. Our role is to listen without judgment, letting you lead the conversation in whatever direction feels right. We won’t impose opinions or pressure you in any way – we’re simply here to provide the information and support you need, when you need it. Every person’s journey is unique, and we honour that by adapting our support to match your individual situation.

We are here for you

For the first time, I was able to speak to someone and say how I really felt, rather than hearing the usual ‘Don’t worry, you can get pregnant again.’
